A note from Kathy
"Welcome to Greensheet online, a dynamic company creating a valued marketplace for
buyers and sellers. We strive to provide a product easy to use for readers and effective
and affordable for advertisers… To provide a place where individuals and businesses
can buy and sell with confidence.
Greensheet is a family owned business which began in March of 1970 in a small office at Kirby and Southwest Freeway, by Helen Gordon. Helen semi-retired in 1994 and fully retired in 1995, and since then has done oil portraits (she has been painting since she was young and is quite accomplished). She also continues playing the piano which she takes great pleasure in.
In the 36 years Greensheet has grown from one edition in Southwest Houston to 12 editions through out Houston, 7 editions in Dallas/Fort Worth, and 1 edition in Austin. Our newest Greensheet is the second edition in Central Phoenix, Arizona. The first edition, East Phoenix was started three years ago. We began printing the New York Times in December 2005 for the Houston market.
As president of Greensheet, my personal objective is to celebrate a 100 year Anniversary. To remain a company with the strength to last in the future we must have a culture which encourages integrity, compassion, and accountability. I believe, as a company we need to create an environment where we bring out the best in others. When the people within the company thrive and succeed in all aspects of their life, so will our customers and all they interact with. It is a win-win environment for all.
Over the years it is ideas from the associates that has improved and changed the paper and has also changed the way we do business. It is their interest in the welfare and success of the readers and advertisers that has established a loyal following of customers.
I believe children are our future and it is the responsibility of all to promote the importance of learning and making a difference in a child's life. For this reason, we have reading and writing workshops for students and we publish their work in every edition of Greensheet.
We partner with the community by providing the schools with worksheets on real life information which children need yet is not a part of the school curriculum. Greensheet Education Foundation joins with other businesses to create Banking, Health & Safety, Reading, Goal Setting, and Environmental supplements that are provided FREE to the teachers for use in the classrooms."
