1)      Your Account

I had a Greensheet web account before you site changed, can I still use it?

Yes, the login information stayed the same as you had before. Although, please, visit the ‘My account ‘tab to ensure that we have the most up to date account information.

I'm having problems creating my account, what's going wrong?

We had some accounts that had no activity for over a year, when the new site was brought up we did not activate those accounts. If you are trying to create an account and see a message that say to contact customer service, and you had an account previously, you account was affected.

If you cannot remember if you had an account and are trying to create and account and receive a message that says that the email already exist, that would mean that we have an account tired to that email. You can contact customer service and they can provide that email with a little account verification.

 

I can’t remember my password, please help.

At the top of each of our web pages is a ‘forgot password’ link. Once you click there it will ask for your email address. Use the email the account was set-up with and click ‘Go.” The system will email you a new password.

I already advertise with The Greensheet, can I still get an online account?

Yes, you can contact your sales rep and they can help you set your account up, or you can go to the ‘my account’ tab and set up the account by yourself.

Where can I find the history of the ads that I have placed?

When you login to your account, go to the ‘my account’ tab. At the top of the page is the history of all the ads you have placed. The ads are sorted by ad type and in order of most recent to oldest. All ad types are in this history except our display ads. You can contact your sales rep to receive that information.

What is Free Ad Friday?

Free Ad Friday is a special promotion we have every Friday. You get an ad with up to 10 words for 1 week at a time that goes in print and online for FREE! (Greensheet reserves the right to limit the number of ads placed per item per household.)

To participate in Free Ad Friday, give us a call on any Friday at 800.793.6543!

(Free Ad Friday excludes ads in the following categories: Real Estate for Rent, Real Estate for Sale, Employment, Pets and Accessories, Transportation and Service ads.)

How do I place free ads in Phoenix?

Individuals can place a FREE ad in Phoenix via our website as long as it's 15 words or less and contains no print upsells (like Bold text, Italic text, BIG TEXT, Attention Getters or Centered Headlines ).

However, you still get 10 free online photos . Your ad will go in print and online in our Phoenix edition which comes out every Thursday.

How soon will my ad be online?

Online Classified ads can be placed online the same day pending proofing. They can also be scheduled in advance.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits organization?

Yes, we do. Send us an email and we'll work something out.

Why am I being asked to pick a geographic location if my ad is online only?

 Even though your ad is going to be online, this feature allows a search to be defined by zone. Your choice of zone or zones will also determine what market your ad will show in. For example if you choose to place your ad with the Houston East geographic location, then you are will show in all of Houston. If a user searches in just the Houston East zone your ad will show in those search results. You can choose multiple locations in one city at no additional cost. If you choose multiple location in more than one city your will be charge you ad rate for each city.     

 

Why can’t I choose a main category?

All ads that are placed in a subcategory will also show in the main category.

 

Is it free to add bold, italics or change the font size of my ad?

No, each one of these are an upgrade and a separate cost. Please see ad rate for a detailed list of those cost.

 

 

 

I'm having trouble with the text box that I type my ad into, what is going wrong?

The text-box on the Place an ad page is a special textbox that allows you to do special formatting like bold and italic. If the text-box isn't working correctly, here are the possible causes:

1.        You're using the Firefox browser and you don't see the cursor blinking. Just try typing and see if it works.

2.        You're using Internet Explorer and your internet security settings are set too high. Try doing a search on Google on how to customize them for Greensheet .

 

What does it mean to “enhance my ad?”

Enhance your ad – Premium listing- this is an add-on to your ad that will place ad in the top of the listings page. In addition it will highlight your ad and give you call to 3 call to action buttons (contact the seller, email to a friend and print the ad).

 

How do I upload photos to my ad?

a)       Make sure the photos you want to upload are on the computer where you're placing the ad from.

b)       Make sure the photos are in .JPG or .GIF format. (Windows: To find this out, you can Right-click and Select Properties. Mac: In the Finder, select the picture file and click the File menu, then Get Info.) If your photos are in any other format, do a search on www.google.com on how to convert them to .GIF or .JPG.

c)        Click on browse

d)       Find the location of your photo you want to use

e)       Use the tool to crop or resize your photo. When you have completed the edit click next. If the photo is to your satisfaction click finish.

f)        Repeat the process for your other photos, up to 10.

 

How can I ad photos to an ad I’ve already placed?

When you log into your account choose the ad that you would like to ad photos to from your account history. Click the ‘view details” link. This will bring up a pop-up window. If you do not see it, please make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off. In the new window you will see the button to upload additional images. Click there and follow the steps above.

 

 

I'm trying to add a centered headline and an attention getter and it's not working, why not?

Online, you have to make a choice between a Centered Headline and an Attention Getter . If you'd like both with your ad, you can call in your ad at: 800 793 6543.

How do I edit or make corrections to my ad that has already been placed?

Currently, we do not have a feature to edit your ad from our website. To make changes, you can either email in your changes or call and speak with our Customer Service department at 800.793.6543.

How do I cancel my ad?

Log into your account and from the account history choose the ad that you wish to cancel. On the left offside of the ad you will find the ‘cancel ad’ link. Once you click this it will ask you to confirm the cancelation. Confirming the cancelation will take the ad offline immediately and notify customer service to remove the ad from any additional runs in the paper.

 

How do I save my ad for later?

At any time during the data input you can log out and your ad will be saved. When you log back in to your account the ad will be waiting for you in your ad history. You can complete your ad by clicking on the ‘complete ad’ link. The ad will highlight and you will proceed through each step, but all your previous selections will be there for you.  

 

Where is my ad?

If you've placed your ad and do not see it on our website or in our paper then there are several possible causes:

1.        The ad was rejected because it did not meet our Ad Guidelines .

2.        The ad was canceled or expired.

3.        It's possible, you just didn't see it. Try doing a search to see if it turns up.

4.        If none of these apply, please send us an email and we'll figure out what's going on.

 

 

Why do I have to comply with your guidelines?

Our Ad Guidelines are designed to create quality classifieds. We want to keep out spam, scams and other gremlins of the internet. They're designed to weed out the bad stuff and keep our website family-friendly. For more information, see About Our Ad Guidelines .

Does Greensheet except any other forms of payment?

Online, we accept these major credit cards: Visa , MasterCard , Discover and American Express   and electronic check. If you'd like to pay by cash, you can find an order form in every copy of Greensheet . To find local copies of Greensheet , visit our Find A Greensheet page.

 

What is the 3-digit code on the payment page?

To protect our customers from credit card fraud, we require you to enter the 3-digit code, located on the back of your card.

b.      Online Banner Ads

I would like advertise online, but I don’t have a banner, can the Greensheet help?

Yes we can. Our composition group would be happy to build a banner ad based on your criteria. Just contact a sales rep and they can help you with the process.

Why can’t I place my banner ad on more than one page?

Each ad placement/campaign is separated so that the analytics are more accurate.

 

How can I tell how many impressions I have left for one of my banners?

When you login to your account, your ad history will reflect how many impressions your campaign has remaining, as well as how many time it has been clicked on.

The display URL will be what the web user sees. The URL is the actual address that the user will be sent to when clicked.

How many editions does Greensheet print?

You can see Greensheet locally in Houston , Austin , Dallas , Fort Worth and Phoenix .

·         Houston has 12 zoned editions . Papers are delivered Tuesday-Friday.

·         Dallas has 4 zoned editions . Papers are delivered Wednesday and Friday.

·         Fort Worth has 3 zoned editions . Papers are delivered Thursday.

·         Austin has 1 zoned edition . The paper is delivered on Thursday.

·         Phoenix has 1 zoned edition . The paper is delivered on Thursday.

5)     General Site Problems

Why does the website look out of order or hard to read?

Our website www.thegreensheet.com is designed for modern browsers. We have tested the website on all browsers and operating systems and we recommend a minimum of Internet Explorer 7 (for Windows users).

For the best internet browsing experience on either   Mac , Windows or Linux we recommend Firefox .

Why is the text on the screen so small?

If you are using Internet Explorer 6 as your browser of choice, sometimes the text-size may be set to Smaller instead of the default Medium. All modern browsers have this function, usually in the View Menu.

In Internet Explorer7 , to increase or decrease your browser's text size please follow the diagram. Internet Explorer Menu > View > Text Size > Medium.

If you're using the Firefox browser and you'd like to increase the text size follow this diagram: Firefox Menu > View > Text Size > Increase

Why aren't the new ads online?

You can see Greensheet locally in Houston , Austin , Dallas/Fort Worth and Phoenix .

Currently, the website updates the same day our printed paper comes out.

·         Houston updates Tuesday-Friday.

·         Dallas/Fort Worth updates Wednesday-Friday.

·         Austin and Phoenix on Thursday.

If the new ads haven't been updated, we may be experiencing technical difficulties. top

What is the difference between advertising in classified versus display?

We reserve classified advertising for individuals and businesses selling tangible items (actual stuff) and other certain services . Display is for business and service advertising and offers greater exposure and flexibility.
