I had a Greensheet Web Account in the Past, Can I Still Use It?

If you had an account in the past, it may still be active, although the password may no longer work. You can go to the page: http://www.thegreensheet.com/placead/Forgot.aspx and attempt to recover your password.

Personal Information

www.thegreensheet.com website only stores the personal information required to complete payments via credit card, this includes name, contact info, etc. No credit card numbers are stored on the website. We take every reasonable measure to protect your information and do not sell or provide it to third parties.

Registration, Create an Account

If you do not currently have an online account, one can be created in the order entry process or by going directly to this link: https://placeads.thegreensheet.com/Register.aspx
All we require is your valid email address and your secret password until such time as you pay for an ad. At that time, credit card processing will require some additional information.

UserID and Password

Your email address that you register with is your userid. This needs to be a valid address and will be our primary method of identifying and contacting you. The password you create needs to be a secret code that only you keep for security purposes. It should not be shared with others. Should you forget your password, you can retrieve it online or you can call customer service to reset it.

I Forgot My UserID

It is your valid email address. If you forgot it, and have purchased an ad in the past, customer service may have the ability to find it for you. The Customer Service number is (800)793-6543. If it cannot be retrieved, you can create a new account with any valid email address that has not been used in another account.

Account Manager / I Want to See My Past Ad History

Once you are logged in, the first page of the ad placement process has a link to go to your account manager. The direct page is: https://www.thegreensheet.com/PlaceAd/AcctManager.aspx . This only works once you are logged in and authenticated into the website. This page shows past and saved ads and provides you the opportunity to buy again or re-run past ads or ads you have saved as a model ad.

Ads (print and online)

Classified ads for print, online, or both may be placed via the placead screens on the website. All print publications for Texas and all online publications for Texas and Arizona are available to you individually or in combinations. There are multiple options for start dates, the length the ad will run, and adding media such as pictures (print and online) or video (online only) to your ad. Online help is available at each step during order entry by clicking on the question mark “?” box at the upper right side of each screen.

Ad Categories

There are 9 main categories and multiple sub-categories in each to help group your ad by topic/service and make it easier for buyers to find. The 9 main categories are: Merchandise, Health and Living, Announcements, Real Estate, Services, Employment, education, Food and Fun, and Transportation. If you have trouble picking an appropriate category, you can call or email Customer Service for assistance. They can be reached via telephone at: (800)793-6543 or click here to send us an email.

What’s Acceptable and What’s Not

The Greensheet prides itself in being a “safe place”. We have guidelines to help ensure that ads are both appropriate and provide the reader with enough information. Some are driven by government regulation. Tips on How to Make Your Ad More Effective

Make your title short but descriptive. Try to avoid words like “must see” and “wow”, use keywords in your ad to make it easy for readers to search for and find. Use attention getters and bold text or centered text, this makes your ad stand out. If you provide photos/images with your ad, it improves your chances by up to 10X over ads with no photos. Videos are another great attention getter for the reader that will really make your ad stand out!

Uploading Images with Your Ad

During ad placement, if you have a print ad, you will have the opportunity to upload an image for print. This will be automatically converted to black and white for print. If you desire a print ad with color graphics, contact us at (713)371-3500 and ask for the Display Sales department.

For online ads with pictures and/or video, you will automatically be sent an email to your registered email address (your userid) with a direct link to upload pictures from your computer. If you lost that email, another can be sent by calling Customer Service at: (800)793-6543.

When Will My Ad Appear Online or in Print?

Online ads go through a proofing process to help us provide our readers with a safer place on the web and the leading place to bring buyers and sellers together. Ads placed during normal business hours are typically proofed and online within an hour or two. Ads placed after business hours will be proofed the next business day. If an ad is place that has issues, a proofer will contact you to resolve them and get your ad online quickly. Print ads go through the proofing process and will be printed on the next available publication date for your chosen edition(s). See “Ad Deadlines” above for more information.

Searching for Ads

Most pages (except the order entry pages) have search capability. The reader can put in the terms to search for, ie, blue Dodge truck, narrow the search by category, and further limit the search by city.
